Spencer Purdy, 교통사고 이후 상태. 안전벨트를 착용한 운전자였으며, 뒤에서 추돌당한 후 운전자 쪽 측면을 들이받히는 사고를 당함.

= 교통사고 이후 상태

- MVC: Motor Vehicle Collision
= 교통사고

- Restrained driver : 안전벨트를 착용한 운전자

- Rear-ended : 뒤에서 추돌당함

- T-boned on the driver's side : 운전자 쪽 측면을 T 자 형태로 들이받힘.

 

 

GCS 15, hemodynamically stable. Bad left chest injury.

: 이력서를 좀 더 좋게 만들려고(스펙 쌓으려고) 프리림( prelim) 1년과정 하고 있어요.

 

- prelim year = preliminary year : 정식 트레이닝(전공, 레지던시 등)전에 하는 1년짜리 과정(의료 쪽에서는 아주 흔한 표현)

- beef up 구어체, 강화하다, 보강하다, 더 좋아 보이게 만들다.

reduce 는 의료 영어에서

• hernia
• fracture
• dislocation

같이  “탈출된 구조를 원래 자리로 되돌리다” 에 자주 씁니다.

 

reduce라는 단어는 실제로 며칠 전에 담당 환자 Uterine prolapse 간호기록에서 봤던 단어이다. 이렇게도 쓰나? 라고 바빠서 의문만 갖고 지나쳤던 단어.

👉 자궁탈출(자궁하수)을 원래 위치로 되돌리다 / reduce a uterine prolapse

(👉 관사 a 를 붙이는 것이 자연스럽습니다)

 

임상에서는 reduce 대신 reposition

Reposition the uterus

👉 자궁을 정상 위치로 다시 위치시키다도 아주 흔하게 씁니다.

- reduce

👉 튀어나오거나 탈출된 장기를 손으로 원래 위치로 되돌려 놓다

→ 탈장, 탈구, 탈출(prolapse)에 쓰는 전문 표현

 

 

the kid has had a lead foot since he was on a tricycle. : "그 애는 세발자전거 탈 때부터 차를 빨리 몰았어요."

has had a lead foot → 발이 무겁다 / 발이 센 편이다

• 발이 무겁다 = idiom meaning “presses the gas pedal too hard” → literal: “heavy foot”
• lead foot = idiom for someone who drives fast

I keep telling him nothing is so important that you need to drive that fast.
